University Student
Rockford Mass Transit offers a discounted monthly pass for students in post-secondary education and training programs offered by institutions in Rockford, Illinois. Valid school issued ID required.
Child
Children 5 and under ride free when accompanied by an adult.
K-12 Student
Rockford Mass Transit offers free rides for students in grades K-12. Only Students 9th-12th must have a valid school-issued photo ID or an RMTD-issued Student Photo to ride free. If a student needs an RMTD Photo ID, the cost is $2.00. IDs can be purchased at either RMTD Transfer Center location. Students must show proof of enrollment in a K-12 curriculum. Students K-8 without a valid ID may still ride for free.
Disabled Citizens
Any person with a Medicare Card can qualify for reduced fare service on the RMTD system. Riders must first obtain the appropriate RMTD photo ID.
To get an RMTD issued Disabled ID, complete the form at rmtd.org/tickets/fares and bring the form and $5.00 to a RMTD Transfer Center.
Paratransit Certified ADA Riders Only
Any person wishing to utilizes the Paratransit service must first have their eligibility certified by Rockford Paratransit and then must be registered into the system.
Rockford Paratransit’s service area is equivalent to the RMTD fixed route system. In compliance with the ADA, service for Paratransit is therefore available ¾ of a mile beyond the RMTD Fixed Route system and/or jurisdictional boundaries.
